Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act (“LERTA”),

Catawissa Borough has a tax exemption for new construction and renovations under the Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act.

Under the Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act (“LERTA”), 72 P.S. §4722 et seq., Catawissa Borough is a local taxing authority that has the power to provide tax exemption for new construction in “deteriorated areas”; and

The Catawissa Borough Council has the authority to implement a $10,000 minimum cost amount in renovations and/or new construction for current residential housing, at the abated schedule of 10% a year for 10 years. New construction would be initially taxed at 50% of appraised value with an abated schedule of 10% a year for 5 years.
