Catawissa Borough is looking for volunteers to assist with addressing the feral cat colonies within the Borough. The Borough is partnering with No Nonsense Neutering in a “trap, neuter, return” program, a non-lethal approach to animal control.
The program involves trapping feral cats; taking them to the No Nonsense Neutering Clinic in Mahanoy City where they are fixed, vaccinated, wormed and flea treated; and then rereleasing the cats in the same location they were found. Volunteers will receive help from No Nonsense Neutering volunteers on the program. Volunteers also will be responsible for transporting cats to Mahanoy City and releasing them after being fixed. Traps will be provided and Catawissa Borough is paying all veterinary costs.
The Borough is particularly looking for volunteers to assist with trapping at the colony on Railroad and Main Streets; homes in the country that need “barn cats” to assist with rodent control; and assistance with colonies that are located on the north side of town, on North 2nd, 3rd and 4th Streets.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Catawissa Borough Manager at (570) 356-2561, or email at email@example.com. More information on No Nonsense Neutering is available on their website, www.nnnlv.org.
