Public Notice

Notice is hereby given that the Council of Catawissa Borough, Pennsylvania, shall, at the regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, December 9th, at 6:30 pm, held in Catawissa Borough Office, 307 Main Street, Catawissa, Pennsylvania, take under advisement and vote to enact or deny the following Ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF CATAWISSA ESTABLISHING A RESIDENTIAL RENTAL PROPERTY REGISTRATION, LICENSING, AND OCCUPANCY SYSTEM, SETTING FORTH REQUIREMENTS AND OBLIGATIONS ON THE PART OF LANDLORDS AND TENANTS, ESTABLISHING A MANNER OF ENFORCEMENT AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF REQUIREMENTS.

  1. Unbelievable. What will this council think of next to charge its citizens?
    I had no idea one small group could run roughshod over people. This is a tiny village. Not some upscale burg bordering a city.
    Landlords already pay errant tenant electric bills with the no recourse. Now you’ve got another big idea.
    Count on my attendance.

  2. This is overkill for our small Borough. As I look around town, I see problems with home-owner owned properties as well. Every property should be held to the same standards — and these standards should be enforced on all properties by the Borough’s code officer. There is no reason for an additional ordinance and fees for rental property owners. We pay the same property taxes as other residents on our properties. I will attend as well.
